My name is Nabikolo Sandra, I greatly thank God for bringing me to Amahoro children’s Home, I came to the home in 2011 while I was 7 years of age and I loved the experience because everyone was so welcoming. As years went by, I started my menstrual days and like any other girl, I was worried about how this stage of life would look like. However, after talking to one of my Aunties, she educated me about the beauty of menstruation and later the ACCT ladies gave us the Days For Girls Kits with which they took us through how it is important to have the cycle as girls. Unlike other girls in the country missing up to eight days of school each term which is 11% of the total learning days in a year because they are on their periods, lack pads and lack information on why girls menstruate, my experience has been a great one knowing that Iam growing into a beautiful woman. With the support from the ACCT, we always have training on how to prepare for our special days and in addition, reusable sanitary towels are supplied to each one of us with both oral and written instructions on how they are used. There is no single day, I have gotten worried about boys laughing at me or even anybody noticing that Iam on my period. Thank you ACCT for making my special day’s happy days
