She’s a Hero is a program which provides medical care to pregnant women. The maternal and infant mortality rate is much higher in Uganda than in developed countries and research has shown that access to high quality prenatal care (called antenatal care in Uganda) improves maternal and infant outcomes. The program started in one of the slums in Kampala, called Namuwongo, and continues to serve mothers in this area, as well as mothers at First Community and Hope Missionary Hospitals.”
